First SCALE French Workshop strengthens knowledge sharing on C-ITS technologies

On January 28 2025, the first SCALE French Project Workshop brought together project partners for a full day of presentations dedicated to Cooperative Intelligent Transport Systems (C-ITS). The workshop aimed to provide participants, particularly new project members, with a shared understanding of C-ITS technologies and their role within the SCALE project.
The programme opened with an overview of the project before moving to technical sessions covering the main components of the C-ITS ecosystem. Experts presented the infrastructure supporting vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) and vehicle-to-infrastructure (V2I) communications, onboard units deployed in connected vehicles, communication technologies, GeoNetworking, security aspects including digital certificates and Public Key Infrastructure (PKI), and the deployment strategy for C-ITS services.
Participants also explored practical examples of connected vehicle applications, including the Local Hazards service, the UEVg onboard unit for road operators, and the CoopITS application, highlighting how C-ITS services contribute to improving road safety, traffic efficiency and communication between road users and traffic managers.
Beyond the technical sessions, the workshop offered an important opportunity for project partners to exchange ideas, strengthen collaboration and identify topics to be explored in greater depth during future training activities. The meeting also helped assess the consortium’s current needs, providing valuable input for the preparation of the next workshops.
This first French workshop marks the beginning of a series of meetings that will accompany the SCALE project throughout its lifetime, supporting continuous knowledge sharing, collaboration and the successful deployment of C-ITS solutions across Europe.
