The ITS European Congress is the leading European event focused on smart mobility and intelligent transportation systems, held from May 19 to 21 in Seville, Spain. Over the course of these three days, more than 3,000 participants and over 150 exhibitors from 71 countries had the opportunity to attend nearly 150 sessions focused on three main themes: clean, resilient, and connected mobility. In addition, they had the opportunity to attend presentations by 500 speakers who shared their expertise on various topics: the deployment and integration of connected, cooperative, and automated mobility; the transformative role of AI and emerging technologies in resilient, inclusive, and sustainable transportation; and the societal, regulatory, and infrastructural challenges shaping the mobility of the future.

During the event, SCALE made a strong impression and sealed the opportunity to promote the project, as it brought together the most influential players in the field of smart and connected mobility, including industry leaders, policymakers, innovators, and researchers from across Europe.

This conference also marked a new step toward the development of a harmonized and sustainable C-ITS ecosystem within Europe. Indeed, on this occasion, the SCALE project officially signed a memorandum of understanding with the C-Roads Platform as well as with other C-ITS corridor initiatives across Europe, such as MERIDIAN, X4TIS, MATIS, C-Roads Germany – Phase 3, and C-Roads Austria 3. Through this strategic agreement, the signatories have committed to strengthening bilateral knowledge sharing, joining forces in the long-term operation and maintenance of the C-ITS ecosystem, and developing close collaboration on evaluation and analysis activities.

SCALE is thus once again contributing to the development and support of large-scale C-ITS deployment by fulfilling the commitments set forth in this agreement:

• Enhancing interoperability and harmonizing national deployments
• Advancing joint evaluation efforts to accelerate learning
• Coordinating long-term maintenance strategies for C-ITS infrastructure
• Establishing a robust framework for knowledge sharing among pilot sites and countries

SCALE’s participation and the signing of this memorandum of understanding with various stakeholders within the C-ITS ecosystem underscore the project’s commitment to supporting large-scale, scalable, and seamless C-ITS services across Europe.
